Bus Boycotts

Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist who one day decided to sit in the front of the bus. She refused to move when ordered to because she was in a white persons spot. Enraged by all of these stupid segregation laws which allowed all white people to sit in the front of the bus, and leave all colored people crowded in the back, Rosa Parks decided to Boycott all buses. This meant that all races who were against segregation would not be taking the bus again until these rules were changed. The bus companies started to worry. Only very few white people were still taking buses. The majority of people who would take the bus daily were colored people. As soon as the bus companies started losing business and started going broke, they knew it was time for change. Thanks To Rosa Parks and many other people, our buses are now integrated.

Malcolm X, (born Malcolm Little), also played a huge role during the civil rights movement in the 1960s along with Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and others. Unlike all of them, Malcolm X believed that all colored people should do what they have to do to gain equality. Even if some of those actions were illegal. Malcolm X believed that colored people should fight back against white people. He was jailed many times, and was shot while giving a speech. Malcom X was a teachers pet and a class favorite in elementary school as he was voted class president. He dropped out of school when he was 15 although he excelled academically. Malcolm X became a minister and converted to Muslim.
